Goals and objectives
Define the right goals and decide how to measure is important to avoid wasting resources and not being able to quantify the effect of your effort. Companies spend a lot of resources on data acquisition, data warehouse, reporting and visualization. What information is important to monitor your process and evaluate your goals? How will you break down overall business objectives (ex. KPI - Key performance indicators) to operational targets and process indicators?
It is also important to choose balanced targets. By focusing entirely on productivity and delivery quality cost or wastage might increase. There may be situations where you must choose between wastage and efficiency. It is important that the operating personnel know what should be prioritized and when.
OEE is a widely used productivity indicator, revealing losses and enabling us to eliminate these losses.
